Privacy Policy

RecipeSage Clipper ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that clips and saves recipes from any website directly to your RecipeSage account. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and what we do not collect.

1. Data We Access

The Extension uses the Active Tab permission to read content from the web page you are actively viewing when you trigger the clip action. This permission only applies to the tab you are currently on and only when you explicitly invoke the Extension. The Extension does not access any other tabs, browsing history, or background pages.

Specifically, the Extension reads:

• The URL of the active tab (to identify the recipe source)
• The HTML content of the active tab (to extract recipe data such as title, ingredients, and instructions)

2. Data Transmitted to RecipeSage Servers

When you clip a recipe, the extracted recipe data (title, ingredients, instructions, images, and source URL) is transmitted to RecipeSage servers over a secure HTTPS connection in order to save the recipe to your RecipeSage account. This is the core function of the Extension.

By using the Extension, you agree to the RecipeSage Privacy Policy governing data stored on RecipeSage servers.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not:

• Collect or transmit your browsing history
• Track which websites you visit
• Use analytics or telemetry services
• Sell or share any of your data with third parties for advertising purposes
• Store any personal data locally beyond your RecipeSage authentication credentials (managed securely by the browser)
• Access tabs other than the one you are actively viewing when you trigger a clip

4. Authentication

To save recipes to your RecipeSage account, the Extension uses your RecipeSage login credentials. These credentials are stored securely using the browser's built-in storage mechanisms and are used solely to authenticate requests to the RecipeSage API. Your password is never stored in plain text by the Extension.

5. Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• Active Tab: Required to read recipe content from the page you are currently viewing. Access is granted only when you actively invoke the Extension on that tab.
• Storage: Used to store your RecipeSage authentication token locally so you remain logged in between browser sessions.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates only with RecipeSage servers (recipesage.com) to save your recipes. No data is sent to any other third-party service, advertiser, or analytics platform.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
